Kimura From Top

By Burton Richardson

You can apply the Kimura bent arm lock from the guard, side control, and even when standing. One of the easiest ways to get to the lock is from the top position when the opponent is on his side.

Start in the North-South position at the opponent’s head. He will often turn to his side to escape. Trap him by pinning his head with one knee and his back with the other. Grab his left wrist with your right hand, snake your left arm under his, and grip your own right wrist. He will probably lock his hands together to defend. Jerk upwards several times to break his grip then rotate his hand past his back. Push forward on his elbow to maximize the torque and wait for the tap. Fight over!
