Cutting Edge and Stinkeye
Hawaiian Brian’s
The two bands will perform a dynamic rock double header. Stinkeye is scheduled to play modern alternative hits from 8 to 9 p.m. Cutting Edge (pictured) re-creates the 1980s classic rock covers from 9:30 to 11:30 p.m. The cost of the event is $5.

Friday, Aug. 23
Duke’s OceanFest
The Duke Kahanamoku OceanFest celebrating beach and ocean activities has plenty of contests to watch in Waikiki all weekend. They include surfing, swimming, beach volleyball, water polo and more now through Aug. 25, ending with the Red Bull Hawaiian Party Wave on Sunday.

Saturday, Aug. 24
Great Waikiki Beer Festival
Hilton Hawaiian Village
Hawaii’s fifth annual beachfront beer event will offer tastings of more than 100 seasonal, local and craft beers, food and entertainment including the Johnny Cash tribute band Cash’d Out. The event runs from 5 to 9 p.m. with early entry for VIP ticket holders. Tickets range from $45 to $80, with discounts available for military personnel.

Thursday, Aug. 29
Modz with DJ Harlow
DJ Monkey and DJ Jet Boy present Modz, a celebration of the sounds that shaped modern music. The event includes choice selections of old school reggae, R&B, Northern Soul and Brit-Pop all night long. Special guest will be KTUH host DJ Harlow. The event for ages 21 and up starts at 8 p.m. and there is no cover charge.

Thursday, Aug. 29
Ryan Tenney
Maui Brewing Co. Waikiki
The performer will play from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Kalakaua Avenue location. Tenney also takes the stage there again each Friday at the same time. Other upcoming performances at the Waikiki location include Kaiona Duo from 9 to 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23. David Sedlak performs from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24 followed that evening by Chapter II making music from 9 to 11 p.m.

Friday, Aug. 23
Downbeat Lounge
DJ Jet Boy presents live indie rock from Trvefrnds, Bound, The Chronies and Boy & Sea. The show for ages 21 and up starts at 9 p.m. and the cover charge is $5.

Kamaka Camarillo
Hawaiian Brian’s
Camarillo will celebrate his CD release party with a performance at The Studio. Aisaiah Jacobs will also play. Doors to the all-ages event open at 8 p.m. and there is a $10 cover.

Keb’ Mo’
Blue Note Hawaii
The blues musician and Grammy Award winner will play shows Aug. 23-25. Tickets are VIP $125, table seating $75, bar area $65. Shows start at 8 p.m. and doors open at 6:30.

Saturday, Aug. 24
Rock out at
Anna O’Brien’s
Runnzwylde, Cole and the Blackouts and Super Hifi will perform from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m.

Kapiolani Park
More than 75 artists will highlight their works at the park bandstand across from Honolulu Zoo at this free event from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. starting on Saturday and continuing on Sunday. Festivities will include food booths and music.

Mele on the Marina
Hawaii Kai Towne Center
This free festival will feature musical entertainment from father and son duo Jon Osorio and Duncan, Ten Feet and hula from Halau ‘O Napuala‘ikauika‘iu. The event begins at 3 p.m. with festivities throughout the afternoon at the scenic Marina Docks.

Honolulu Night Market
Enjoy the Endless Summer Luau from 6 to 10 p.m. along Auahi Street and Keawe Street. The free event will feature music from Tiara Bella, along with art, games, food and more. Professional surf champion Billy Kemper will provide an ocean safety demo.

Slow Drip DMT
Downbeat Lounge
DJ Jet Boy and Mano Kane present psychedelic sounds. The event for ages 21 and up starts at 9 p.m. and there is no cover charge.

The Most Shine

This hip-hop event will feature Yoren! Dallas J., Voorheezy, Gloom, Eriya Bandz and Ocean Evol. The all-ages event goes from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. and there is a $5 cover charge.

Ka Makana Alii
Enjoy an afternoon of live Hawaiian music entertainment from noon to 3 p.m. in Kapolei. Experience the stylings of Halau Hula ‘O Puka’ikapuaokalani and Moon Kahele.

David Sedlak
Maui Brewing Co. Kailua
The performer plays his melodies from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in this Windward Oahu venue.

Happy harmonies
Duke’s Canoe Club
Henry Kapono plays from 4 to 6 p.m. while the Chris Mercado Duo follows from 9:30 p.m. to midnight at the Waikiki establishment.

The show is a monthly Daytime Drag and Variety Show from 3 to 4 p.m. starring Candi Shell. Seating starts at 2 p.m.

A family affair
Augie Rey, who plays keyboards, congas and timbales, bringing it together with a mellow voice will join with special guests Tahiti Rey, Kimo Kahoano and Kamuela Kahoano at Blue Note Hawaii. Tickets are VIP $45, premium $35, loge seating and bar area $25. Shows are at 6:30 and 9 p.m. with doors open at 5 and 8:30 p.m.
