Keiki Courtyard Cinema
Ward Village will host the Hawai‘i premiere for Paper Planes, a children’s movie about an Australian boy’s passion for flight and his challenge to compete in the World Paper Plane Championships in Japan. The event, which is free and open to the public will feature food vendors, complimentary seating, popcorn, and themed family activities, provided by Hawaii Children’s Discovery Center. Golden Moment
Golden Moment, extraordinary skating concert on ice to benefit early childhood literacy in Hawaii, is a project of Olympic gold medalist Kristi Yamaguchi’s Always Dream Foundation. Check it out Nov. 20-21 at 7 p.m. at Blaisdell Arena. Olympic Gold Medalists Yamaguchi and Brian Boitano and a star-studded cast of figure skating champions from North America and Japan will take center ice for this once-in-a-lifetime show. Theory of a Deadman Live
BAMP Project presents Theory of A Deadman performing live at The Republik. In the middle of 2013, the platinum-selling Canadian quartet began working on what would become its fifth full-length album, Savages [Roadrunner Records/604]. Soulgasm has featured some of the best local artists, DJs, dancers, vocalists, musicians and more for eight years. Celebrate with them at Bar 35. TIËSTO  Live
Electric Palms Hawaii and Hawaii Polo Life present Tiësto performing live at Waimanalo Polo Fields under the stars. Highly regarded by both DJ Magazine and fans of electronic dance music, Tiësto launched his career as one of the world’s foremost trance DJs, due in part to his legendary six-hour live sets, and went on to embrace a more pop-oriented EDM approach. Pretty Peacock Productions and the808wonderland present The Inaugural Grand Aloha Tease Showcase at Nextdoor in Chinatown. This showcase will feature Burlesque Hall of Fame Royalty 2011 Queen of Burlesque Miss Indigo Blue and 2013 King of Burlesque Ray Gunn. DJ Tiesto Special Performance
SKY Waikiki hosts DJ Tiesto for a special sunset session. Celebrity DJ Tiesto, a native of the Netherlands and embraced by DJ Magazine and fans of electronic dance music the world over, helped pioneer what music writer Robert Evanoff calls “a stylized musical trend of weaving threads of ethereal female vocals deep within the ebbs and flows of pulsating electronic rhythms.” Tiesto has remixed the likes of Coldplay (“Paradise) and Gotye (“Somebody That I Used to Know”), and won his first Grammy Award earlier this year for his remix of John Legend’s “All of Me.” Doors open at 5 p.m. and tickets are $100 general admission, $150 VIP line pass tickets.
