Magic! Live
Canadian reggae fusion band Magic! brings its Caribbean flavor to The Republik with an 8 p.m. show. The group is composed of songwriter and record producer Nasri, Mark Pellizzer, Alex Tanas and Ben Spivak. They are most well-known for their debut single, “Rude,” which peaked at No. 1 in seven countries. Tickets are $35 in advance plus applicable fees with an increase on the day of the show. Datsik Live

Duke’s OceanFest
From Aug. 22-30 the public is invited to enjoy various events surrounding Duke’s OceanFest — a full schedule is available online. Waikiki’s premier ocean sports festival is presenting 27 ocean and beach competitions and special events over its nine-day schedule, with most taking place in front of the majestic statue honoring Duke and his place in history at Queen’s Surf on Waikiki Beach. Duke’s OceanFest supports the Outrigger Duke Kahanamoku Foundation, formed in Kahanamoku’s honor in 1986.  (dukesoceanfest.com)

Kaimi, lead vocalist for HiRiz, headlines at Downbeat Lounge starting at 9 p.m. HiRiZ has built up their original and cover material to with stand a five hour gig. With the island reggae and rock fusion technicality, HiRiZ has a distinct sound. Not limiting their horizons, they also like to mesh the reggae vibe with genres such as bossa nova, jazz, alternative, R&B and funk.
