For many car lovers, their rides represent their release, their way of stepping away from it all and creating a perfect slice of the world. For Patrick Inumerable, his 2004 Acura TSX has been his way of dealing with a grief that no one should have to bear.

For the Manila-born automobile lover, the moment of grief happened soon after purchasing this TSX when he and his wife suffered a miscarriage six months into their pregnancy.

“I had saved up for my daughter, so when we lost her, I just put everything into the car to be distracted,” says Patrick.

Almost immediately, he immersed himself in the modification world by joining a TSXClub.com forum and doing extensive research on the car. As the days rolled by, Patrick found himself re-building the automobile step by step.

He began by having the oxidized paint refreshed with a coat of Nighthawk Black Pearl. A new 06-08 front conversion with a Mugen facelift lip kit was added, as were 04-05 Mugen side skirts and a rear lip.

More exterior touches soon followed: an EGR rear roof visor, a VIS carbon fiber hood and trunk, and an understated FLP trunk spoiler. A bit of JDM was added with a Euro R grill, headlights and rear fogs. The basic bolt-ons were included with an Injen intake, a PLM 4-1 one-piece header with test pipe and a Greddy Evo2 full catback exhaust. The engine was dressed up appropriately with additional showpieces from Mugen, and a trick Xscorpion battery terminal that features a volt display and custom paint was included.

Eventually, Marshall Lum installed a full AirRunner suspension that drops the TSX as low as it can go.

Other modifications of note: The Ingalls rear camber kit puts things into perspective while a Godspeed strut bar and Progress rear sway bar stiffen things up. This dark angel rides on Work Termist S1Cs sized at 18×9 with a +15 offset in the front and 18x10s in the rear at +20.

The car starts with the push of a button, thanks to the S2K push start, and more Mugen components grace the interior along with AirRunner gauges on a dual gauge pod. LED lights have been added and dual 12-inch subs pound out the bass from a bevy of audio components, including a Clarion DVD single din and Alpine F-350 4 channel amps.

With too many mods to list, this car has given Patrick direction when he had none. He came to Hawaii from the Philippines to establish a better life for himself, and has accomplished much in the short span of six years — particularly with his involvement in the import car culture. In many ways, that may be cause for celebration for his angel of the streets.
