For my generation, one of the most prolific symbols of teenage adolescence was the exotic sports car poster.  It’s what kick-started the vehicular dreams and aspirations of many young men and women.  For some, it was that legendary image of the Lamborghini Countach — bathed in red on a background of black that became cemented in our young minds.

For the anonymous owner of this 2015 Lamborghini Huracán — the first Lambo he had ever seen was the Countach on that very poster mentioned earlier.  Looking back, the Countach was a bit old school for him though — the Huracán was the future and a symbol of everything he wanted in an exotic. Power, performance, sound — the raging bull. It has it all.

The Huracán, which means hurricane in Spanish, is the LP 610-4, which means it has a V10 engine with 602 horsepower on tap in a 4-wheel drive configuration. LP means the engine is placed in a longitudinal position.  It can go from 0-60 mph in 2.5 seconds with a top speed of 212 mph. Combined, it means this baby means business.

This is a new experience, however. This gorgeous ride has been on-island for a scant three days and Mr. Anonymous is still coming to terms with it. “The first time I started it, you just knew that there was power in this car,” he said.

It’s overwhelming in some ways. However, it’s already having an impact. During our shoot, the car was immediately complimented by nearby bystanders. It’s not hard to understand why — just look at it.

Wrapped in matte black, this car is menacing. The original color even sounds cool — Nero Nemesis. It’s all sharp styling interspersed with bold edges, purposeful vents, and a body shape that is absolutely exotic regardless of the direction you’re looking at it from.  A Vorsteiner carbon fiber front splitter and low-slung rear wing have been added to increase the performance and appeal. It works. Photographing cars like this is what makes this job so enjoyable. It’s a thrill to be in such close proximity to a vehicle of this caliber. You can get lost in the moment when you look at this car — amazed and in awe of it.

A set of massive 20-inch wheels bathed in black allow for wide spokes, revealing some of the biggest brakes I’ve ever seen on a car.  Enormous yellow brake calipers are fitted to the gigantic cross-drilled ceramic rotors, proving that not only is this ride fast, it can also stop just as well.

The interior is a modern marvel of black and yellow leather, an enviable number of switches, and when combined with the fully configurable digital LCD panel, it screams “futuristic fighter jet.” I mean, to start the car, it feels like you’re about to launch a missile. An apt description if ever there was one.

Believe it or not, this ride was an investment for the owner.  He chose the Huracán due to its reliability, power, performance, and, of course, its curbside appeal. But most importantly, owning this ride is a dream that proves that anything is possible if you work hard enough.  He can cross this one off the bucket list, that’s for sure.
