Very few cars get the blood of auto lovers pumping faster than a gorgeous FD3S RX-7 and this 1993 Mazda model, owned by Ryan Kumabe, is the stuff dreams are made of. The vehicle is stunning from any angle, with a design that still feels modern and fresh when the right mods are applied.

When completely stocked, this model is still a sexy beast despite the front fascia being somewhat dated with its old-school indicators and a nose cone. Featuring an AD GT front bumper, the car’s curved styling is accented heavily by a full carbon fiber under sweep while the hood is a vented RE-Amemiya model. Authentic Mazdaspeed sideskirts grace the vehicle, while an RE-Amemiya diffuser handles the air dynamics at the rear. C-West headlights have been installed and give the automobile a very sleek look while ridding itself of the ’90s-styled pop-ups. Rounding out the back is a huge APR GTC-500 wing, a one-of- a-kind car show glow, and chasing tails that replace the stock tails.

This car is the first true rotary FD that’s been featured in StreetPulse, and one that has the potential to make some serious power thanks to the 13B-REW, which has been given a half-bridge port. The lop- ing idle is a hallmark feature, but a single Garrett turbo conversion allows for more horsepower and torque than the OEM twin turbos could ever hope to produce.

One look at the engine bay shows that a tremendous amount of room has been made courtesy of Kumabe’s hours of work in moving all of the factory electronics and wiring to the under-dash of the cabin. Breathing through an HKS air cleaner, oxygen is ignited by an HKS Twin Power Ignition System, with the combustion gases vented through a raspy and immensely loud Greddy Ti-Race exhaust. Essentially, this isn’t the car you’d want riding through your neighborhood at 1 in the morning!

The interior has been given the Mazdaspeed touch; most noticeable are the very rare Mazdaspeed racing seats, which are clad in white leather and fabric inserts. Mazdaspeed items such as the steering wheel, shift knob, e-brake handle and the short-shifter make driving an even more enjoyable experience while the full-roll cage forms a wall of protection in case the situation ever gets out of control.

With a body this beautiful, you need the suspension to go with it. Amazingly, this ride features Tein Monoflex coilovers that drop the fenders over classic 19- inch Volk racing TE37s. EBC Greenstuff pads are also combined with drilled rotors for additional stopping power. Altogether, this creates a very complementary look featuring bronze wheels and a sumptuous Corvette Grand Sport Blue paint.

At just 21 years of age, Kumabe is living a fantasy owning this gorgeous blue spectre. The ride is incredibly hard to miss and even harder to ignore thanks to its monstrous-sounding exhaust note an audible reminder about just how legendary the RX-7 is.
