The Tokyo Metropolitan Police, known to be one of the largest police forces in the world, are infamous for sporting a string of ubiquitous two-toned, black-and-white vehicles. They range from the pedestrian Toyota Crowns and white shirobai motorcycles to the tiny kei cars suitable for the tight streets of Japan’s capital.

For most import enthusiasts, however, the Japanese police interceptor is what gets their hearts pounding. Imagine being chased down by a Honda NSX, a Skyline GT-R, a Mazda RX-7 or any one of the iconic Japanese sports cars. In Japan, that’s a possible reality.

David Kauka is one of these enthusiasts. Ever since he discovered the super-cool livery that Japanese police cars use, he’s been a fan. His 2004 Infiniti G35 is almost like a Japanese super cop. By day, it’s a mild-mannered luxury car with an interesting paint design. By night, in show form, it’s a full-on replica of the infamous police interceptor with the removable components.

Over time, the car has slowly morphed into its current form. After picking up the G35 for an awesome price, Kauka took his time choosing the modifications. First came the Air Lift Performance airbag setup featuring the Autopilot v2 kit, paired with an assortment of suspension components. With the low down, his plans shifted to the wheel setup. Kauka went with Weds Kranze LXZ, which are fully custom and set with 19x11s in the front and 19x12s in the rear.

Such wide wheels required the installation of a variety of components to give the body its wide stance. Universal rear flares were added to the front while JPN Garage rear wide-body flares took up the rear. A selection of carbon fiber components includes the Outcast Garage front and side splitters as well as the duckbill spoiler. A Top Secret-style rear diffuser is also custom-molded to house the aftermarket LED reverse light.

At this point, Kauka realized he needed to take his car to the next level — all of which necessitated the keishicho-themed wrap done by wrapwerx at Tokyo Auto. After suitably dressing in the black-and-white livery, he began adding all of the little details that slowly transform this car. Custom magnetic vinyl decals and badges were added, including the front Japanese police logo and illuminated plates to complete the look. What clinches the appearance is the authentic Japanese police light bar provided by Eqvipped. It’s truly a sight to behold.

This interceptor’s 3.5L V6 engine is currently pushing 372HP, thanks to a Vortech v3 SCI supercharger. Additionally, 600cc Deatswerks fuel injectors and a Walbro 255lph fuel pump provide the go while the appropriate bolt-on components have also been added. These include an Mrev lower plenum and Motordyne spacer, an R-Rydes intake charge pipe, and the gorgeous HKS True Dual exhaust brings up the rear.

Add everything together and this is one amazing ride that Kauka has put together.
