Sleek. Sexy. Black. Mean. All of these words can be used to describe Steve Choo’s 2006 BMW 6 Series. This ride is a competitor-destroying luxury batmobile-like taken up to Level 9 with goodies aplenty. It’s completely dominating and has a trophy list as long as my arm. I mean just take a look at this car — it’s bad, right?!

Obviously, Steve is not a man who does things halfway. He’s an old school drag racer who has traveled the world building his business reputation while experiencing a wide range of vehicles, even as his tastes in automobiles have evolved. His first ride was a 1952 Ford, which he re-built and had it in running shape in six months’ time. Immediately, the racing addiction took hold and he found himself in Kahuku laying down rubber. Military service came next, then school, then more fascination with a bevy of cars, including the Chevy Impala, Dodge Dart, Cadillac and Mercedes-Benz. From hot rodding to luxury, he’s done it all.

Fast-forward to now and both Steve and son Puna are rocking the show circuit with killer BMWs. I’ve seen this 6 Series at several shows, and each time I’ve been mesmerized by this beauty. With its sheet metal one-off wide body design by “The Shop,” this BMW is absolutely unique. It features custom wide-molded side skirts and a serious rear bumper that has been shaped to fit the quad exhausts. A VIS Racing carbon-fiber hood has been modified with custom vents while a variety of additional details round out the body, including custom headlights and Orion V2 Angel Eyes.

The engine features an ESS Stage 2 Twin Screw Supercharger to really get this beast rolling. Tuned by ESS, the ride also carries a Nitrous Express system for extra power. As for the power under its hood, Steve says, “If I hit it, it’ll just go sideways.” An aFe intake provides some breathing space while a custom x-pipe carries down into a section 3 muffler. A Seibon carbon-fiber engine plenum adds a little visual style to the ominous looking engine bay.

To really put this car over the top, Steve attacked the interior customizations with gusto. Red and black is the theme as a double-stitched, diamond-quilted suede interior, courtesy of Aloha Upholstery, is the first thing you’ll notice upon peering into the cockpit. Sparco 2-inch harnesses keep it snug while custom red LED and mood lighting accents fill the voids. The sound is pumped through a tuned and ported subwoofer system by A*R Kar Audio with a 10-inch Rockford Fosgate T1 and 1,000-watt Fli Amplifier as its basis.

Absolutely massive custom 22-inch DPE SP16 wheels are fitted to the car; they’re so big, in fact, that this car only needs H&R Coilovers to achieve its tight tuck. Held on by a Macht Schnell stud conversion, behind them are cross-drilled and slotted rotors fitted to the enormous brakes for tremendous stopping power.

Steve is pleased with the final form of his BMW, which will be featured at the MDA Aloha Custom Car Show March 21-22 at Aloha Stadium. “You’re either gonna do it or not,” he said. “I’m at peace with what I’ve done to this car.”
